First ASuite Survey Results
Submitted by El Salvador on Sat, 14/02/2009 - 19:06
Hi everybody, the following is a summary of the information gathered about (sorry for late):
1. How did you find out about ASuite?
2. What is the primary reason you downloaded ASuite?
3. How long have you been using ASuite?
4. What do you want in the next versions of ASuite?

5. What operating system do you use?

Sorry, I missed the chance to take part in your survey, but wanted a to add a couple of points.
We've been using ASuite to deliver a package of assistive technology applications to further/higher education institutions in the UK (and abroad).

Our feedback shows that users have impressed with the interface, though we still face some accessibiity issues: allowing users to access the menu through the keyboard (i.e. being able to tab through all of the interface elements) and allowing a screenreader to read the text of the menu.
I'm afraid we don't have any Delphi programming experience, so are not able to help out with the coding, but we could offer some help with documentation if required.
Thanks,
Kenji Lamb

allowing users to access the menu through the keyboard (i.e. being able to tab through all of the interface elements) and allowing a screenreader to read the text of the menu.
Default Menu (xp style) or classic menu? Both?

P.S.: I already know your great project. Congratulations.

Thanks for replying. I've spoken to our accessibility & inclusion advisor and he's passed on some more information about the features we're looking for:
1. Although the default menu has some keyboard navigation, e.g., tab and up and down arrow keys, there doesn’t appear to be a key which activates the programs, i.e., the Enter/Return key.
2. Is it possible to label each of the menu items, for example, Documents, Music etc? It would also be advantageous if it was possible to incorporate labels for the menu structure, e.g. as the mouse (and keyboard) hovers over the menus a label appears to identify what each item is – this mainly so screen readers could read information from the menu.
3. When I used JAWS (a screen reader) to test the Classic View it read the information on the menu structure. Unfortunately when I used NVDA a popular open source screen reader the information it read was – 1 of 4, 1 of 5, 1 of 6 etc. Is there a way to overcome this?
4. Ideally it would be beneficial if the default menu could be read and accessed via a keyboard in a similar way to the classic menu.
If you could help with any of this, we would be extremely grateful. I'm glad that you've heard of our project - I have to say that your software lies at the heart of it and makes it all possible!
;-)
